P6 Chinese revision papers and prelims: what's in them, and how to revise with them
Mattie & Me has over 400 free past-year P6 Chinese school papers from Singapore schools, including recent prelims. Practise them one section at a time on the P6 papers page. They're school papers, not PSLE papers, but they're the closest practice most families can get.
What P6 Chinese papers are there?
Our P6 collection covers school SA1, SA2, CA and WA papers and prelims, from 2004 to 2026, including prelims set in 2026. These are papers set by individual schools. We don't hold PSLE papers, and none of these is a PSLE paper.
What's in a P6 Chinese paper?
Section titles in the P6 papers we hold most often print these marks:
| Section (Chinese name) | Printed as | What your child does |
|---|---|---|
| Language use (语文应用) | 15 questions, 30 marks | Pinyin, word meaning and sentence choices |
| Passage cloze (短文填空) | 5 questions, 10 marks | Choose the word that fits a passage |
| Complete the dialogue (完成对话) | 4 questions, 8 marks | Pick the line that fits a conversation |
| Reading comprehension (阅读理解) | 5 questions, 10 marks | Multiple choice on a passage |
| Written comprehension (B组) | 7 questions, 22 marks | Write short responses about a passage |
| Composition (作文) | 40 marks, where printed | A separate writing paper |
By share of written marks in the 2023-onwards papers we hold, reading comprehension leads (about 27%), then written comprehension (23%), language use (17%), passage cloze (17%) and dialogues (15%). These describe the school papers we hold, not the official PSLE format.
How should my child revise with P6 papers?
1. One section at a time. Short sessions beat a whole paper in one sitting. Our papers open section by section.
2. Start with the big sections. Reading comprehension and written comprehension carry about half the written marks.
3. Keep a list of missed words. Most marks depend on knowing words in context. The most-tested P6 words in our papers include 鼓励 (to encourage), 坚持 (to keep going), 克服 (to overcome) and 惭愧 (ashamed). See the P6 Chinese page.
4. Use prelims last. They're the closest in style to a final exam, so save them for timed practice.
5. Get composition checked by a person. Our papers show the composition task, but we don't mark writing. A teacher or tutor should read it. See Chinese tuition.
Are the P6 papers free?
Yes. All over 400 P6 papers (over 15,000 questions) are free to practise, with no sign-up. The right option is shown after a wrong pick. If you'd like wrong picks explained in English, with missed words brought back until your child knows them, see how Learning works.
