How it works

Mattie & Me knows which Chinese words come up in your child's exams. As they play, it spots the ones they don't know and brings them back, inside the game and in the exam room, until they stick. No word lists, no drilling past-year papers, no nagging. Just a child who turns up to the exam knowing the words.

Try a Smart Practice question

昨天小文做错了事,爸爸__了他。

"Exam words" means the words most common in the past-year school papers we hold for their level. No marks are promised.

What Learning gives you

My practice screen: the next question with the reason it was picked, for example missed 3 days ago

Practise the right words

Smart Practice picks each next question: words likely in their school's exams that they don't know yet.

An explanation card: a wrong pick explained in English, with pinyin and read-aloud

Help without a Chinese-speaking parent

Wrong picks are explained in English, with pinyin and read-aloud.

The Words to practise list: each word with pinyin, English meaning and a read-aloud button

See what improves

Words to practise move to Known as your child masters them. After 30 answers you also get an estimate of likely exam words known.

MATTIE & ME LEARNING

Two ways to pay for Learning.

Both plans include

  • Smart Practice: each next question targets likely exam words your child doesn't know yet
  • An English explanation for nearly every wrong pick, read aloud, and pinyin for any word you tap
  • Missed words back after 1, 3 and 7 days, plus Words to practise and My practice
  • A parent estimate of likely exam words known (after 30 answers)

Same adventure. Different Chinese.

One child is learning 牛奶. Another is ready for the whole order.

In Learning, a short check finds the textbook your child is working at, and island tasks use that book's words. A younger child might match one word to the milk carton. An older child might read a full café order.

Textbook 3A
Textbook 5B

Real game screens from two islands at different textbook levels.

What happens in the first week.

  1. Day 1: a short level check. Ten questions find where your child is.
  2. Practice chosen for them. Each next question targets likely exam words they don't know yet. No picking papers.
  3. Hear it and understand mistakes. Unfamiliar words are read aloud, and wrong picks are explained in English.
  4. Words come back. Missed words return after 1, 3 and 7 days, and Words to practise shows which need another go.

Questions about Learning

Questions

How is the Chinese connected to school?

The game is aligned with Huanle Huoban. Nine of twelve books use official word lists; 1B, 2A and 2B use textbook-verified 2015-edition lists with supplements. We do not claim complete coverage of the newer P1–P2 edition. Learning uses placement to set a working book; free play uses the book chosen at the start.

How does Smart Practice know what's in my child's school exams?

We map the words tested in over 2,000 real Singapore school papers. For your child's school, we look at how often each word appears in that school's papers. Where we don't have them, we use papers from other schools at the same level. It's a forecast of likely words, not a copy of the exam, and we check it against how children actually do.

What is free, and what am I paying for?

The whole island and choose-your-own past papers are free. Learning adds Smart Practice, English explanations with pinyin and read-aloud, missed words brought back after 1, 3 and 7 days, Words to practise, My practice and a parent progress estimate.

What happens if I cancel?

During the trial, nothing is charged. After that, the plan just won't renew, and Learning stays on until the end of the period you've paid for.

Their island is waiting.
