On Mattie & Me, your child plays a game and meets the P2 Chinese words most likely to come up in their exams. The words they don't know yet keep coming back, in the game and in practice papers, until they know them. "Likely" is based on the school papers we hold.
P2 Chinese uses the 欢乐伙伴 (Huanle Huoban) 2.0 textbooks, 2A and 2B (19 lessons). In the P2 school papers we hold, the biggest parts are building sentences, spotting the right character and short reading passages, and children start writing more than in P1.

Which textbook does P2 Chinese use?
Schools teach P2 from 欢乐伙伴 2.0, in two books: 2A (10 lessons) and 2B (9 lessons). Our free P2 听写 lists still follow the 2015 edition, so some lessons differ from your child's 2.0 book. Our practice in Learning uses the 2.0 character lists (生字) for each lesson.
What do P2 Chinese school papers test most?
P2 is where children start writing: less than half the marks (about 42%) are multiple choice in the 2023-onwards P2 papers we hold (72 papers). By share of marks:

Sections are often printed as 5 questions for 5 or 10 marks, for example spotting the character, writing about a picture (看图写话) or reading comprehension. These describe the school papers we hold, not an official format.
